I’m a geek. I’m also a father and husband. I like toys. Big toys. Expensive toys.

What this whole thing is about is my trials and tribulations dealing with networking technology, mostly Cisco. I also like to share news about my toys. Cars.

    Hi Scott,

I stumbled across your website searching for some Exchange 2007 info.  Cool site!  I was curious if I could pick your brain about having a blog site…  I’m a Network Manager for Trillium Staffing, but I do some stuff on the side…  But I am running ESXi at home and will start hosting a Drupal site on Ubuntu, along with my own SMTP for mail for my new domain.  I thought about making the blog to help with some monthly income.  I was curious if you feel your site has been worthwhile for you to maintain.  We seem to be both interested in the same things, IT… along with cars.  I currently autocross an 89 BMW 325is with all the suspension goodies (Coil overs, Koni’s, fat swaybars, etc), we just built our own home and we were our own General Contractor, home improvements… etc.  So, I have a diverse amount of info to write on.

Again, I was just curious how your feelings with your blog site have been.  Thanks for any feedback and for posting what you’re doing, it did help me!

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Scott,

I am interested in your experience with the pv-149 capture card. I am trying to setup a VM using VirtualBox running the BlueCherry Ubuntu ZM on an XP machine. My video card is recognized as a sata storage device. Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve this? Thanks.

Tim, getting any virtualization solution to pass through a hardware device is a real challenge. I doubt VB running on XP can do it correctly. I had to build a system that supported VT-d and use ESXi 4.x before it would it kind of work for me. I’ve seen some references to Zen working as well but I’m not experienced with that.
